Run With Gord

We want everybody who wants to run or walk outdoors to be able to do so safely, so Gord’s is committed to ensuring there is always a group to join. Whether you’ve got years of running experience, or are just starting out and looking to connect with like-minded folks, join our free, drop-in run groups, Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm, and Saturday mornings at 8:30 am, in front of the store, regardless of the weather. Statutory holidays excepted. All abilities are welcome, walkers, too.

Run With Gord Tuesday evening schedule: Week 1: fartlek workout, Week 2: tempo workout, Week 3: hills, Week 4: HIIT workout (high-intensity interval workout), occasional Week 5: freestyle.

Run With Gord Saturday mornings at 8:30 am sharp: run or walk options for short, medium and long distances. Need a reason to get out of bed? The run/walk on the 1st Saturday of every month finishes with a treat!

Gord’s Commitment to Community

Actively involved in the local running and fitness community, Gord’s Running Store has been organizing and sponsoring races, community and charity events for over 30 years. The Alberta Wilderness Association Adventures for Wilderness program has long been a beneficiary of Gord’s support. Gord’s is a gold sponsor of Sinister Seven Ultra’s Castle Alpine Trail Race, and has proudly sponsored the IronLegs Mountain Races since their inception.

Gord’s Frozen Ass 50, a 50 km ultramarathon race along Calgary’s Nose Creek pathway, is held in February each year. Conceived as an antidote to the annual December holiday season’s over-indulgence, the race is on no matter what the weather, or a pandemic, can throw at it. After more than 30 years (you read that right, this race pre-dates the inception of Gord’s Running Store) 2021 saw the first-ever virtual Gord’s Frozen Ass 50, with participants from all over North America, some of whom ran the distance on treadmills in their homes. This is Gord’s not-to-be-missed signature event. Now with both in-person and virtual options.

Shoe donations: bring us your used running shoes, and we’ll donate them to the Calgary Mustard Seed. Every year we bring almost a 1000 donated runners to folks who can use them.
